CAUCASUS INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY - GEORGIA
Faculty of Medicine has been functioning at Caucasus International University since 1995. It is one of the leading departments of Caucasus International University. Nine accredited programs are offered: Medicine (in Georgian and English), Dentistry (in Georgian, English and Russian), Pharmacy (in Georgian and English), and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (in Georgian and English). Since the day of establishment the faculty has educated and employed a number of successful graduates. Educational Programmes in Medicine and Dentistry entails in itself basic and clinical disciplines. Correspondingly, new laboratories equipped with brand new anatomical models and moulages have been opened for teaching basic disciplines. Emphasis should be placed on the laboratory of physiology, where students are given opportunity to conduct weekly experiments on animals together with theoretical studies. In addition, they participate in various experiments conducted at Ivane Beretashvili Institute of Physiology. Within the frameworks of the programme in Dentistry, a cabinet for phantom studies is functioning at the University, which facilitates students’ adaptation to clinic environment. The university has its own dentistry cabinet where students are given opportunity to have direct contact with patients from the sixth semester. Practical classes in clinical disciplines are conducted in leading Georgian clinics and medical institutions, thus enabling successful students to be employed in future. Theoretical and practical lectures are conducted in accordance to international standards, by qualified, top-ranked academics in their field. Educational Programs in Medicine and Dentistry conducted in English language has been introduced to the faculty from 2013; Currently 142 international students (from Iran, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Turkey, etc) are studying at the faculty and the number is gradually increasing. From 2014 Program in dentistry conducted in Russian language, programs in Pharmacy and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (in English language) have been introduced to the faculty. The construction of the university medical clinic is planned for the near future. In 2012 academic year the faculty of medicine of Caucasus International University was enrolled in Foundation for Advancement in International Medical Education and Research “FAIMER-IMED” and World Health Organization "AVICENNA".
